Maddox Down Farm is situated in a quiet Hamlet with stunning views over the Countryside, quiet and completely rural.

It has been in the Lerwill Family since the 1500's. It is a working farm, with the traditional stone barns converted to cottages in keeping with the area.

We are only 2 miles from the edge of Exmoor National Park, 3 miles from the sea. Fishing trips can be booked from Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.

The pool will be closed after half term October 31st 2009 then open again for Christmas and new year and closed again until Easter 3rd April 2010.

Fishing on our own pondThe lane is a cycleway, route no 56, and has a Public footpath running through the farm, this takes you to Combe Martin, passing a standing stone of local interest, from the top of the farm on a clear day you can see Wales, 25 miles away.

Going the other way you pass the ancient Church at East Down before reaching our local hostelry "The Pyne Arms" which is open all day for food and liquid refreshment.

The new indoor heated swimming poolArlington Court, a National trust property, with a carriage museum is just a few minutes away.
Horse riding is available locally.here are several very good Golf courses in the area for those seeking a golfing holiday.

We are ideally situated for Lynton and Lynmouth, with its unique Cliff Railway. Only 8 miles from Woolacombe with its 3 miles of Golden Sand and blue flag status. Woolacombe beach is ideal for families looking to spend the day on the beach, it also widely known to surfers with regular breakers to test your surfing skills.

Our pond is ideal for those seeking a quiet fishing holidayBarnstaple, our local Market town is 10 miles away, and well worth a visit, it is an ancient Borough Town, with its famous pannier market in use every day. Supermarkets and shops, as well as a tennis centre, leisure centre, cinema, theatre and many other amenities. Barnstaple is best known to archaeologists for its Barum ware pottery.

Bideford, situated on the River Torridge, Tarka Country, is well worth a visit. Trips to the unique Lundy Island can be taken from here.

Jacobs SheepOn site there is now a bigger games room, complete with pool table, table tennis, table football, a play area for small children and books, video, DVD and board games

In the meadow below the cottages there is a catch and release fishing lake, stocked with Trout and Carp which can be used by our guests free of charge. We can supply tackle for a small charge if required.

We offer our guests a shopping service, waiting for you on arrival, we can obtain local produce, e.g. Meat, Vegetables, Fruit (in season), Milk and general groceries. An Invoice will be ready for you on arrival.

The newly refurbished and enlarged games roomA welcome pack will be waiting for you on your arrival, this to include, Tea,Coffee, Milk and Sugar and a Traditional Devon Cream Tea.

We have a new indoor heated swimming pool and enlarged and refitted games room.

The Granary and Roundhouse cottages now have woodburners installed for those cosy evenings, and logs and kindling are available at cost.

A babysitting service is available on request.
